71 Year-old Man Killed in Traffic Collision

Los Angeles: On Tuesday, November 11, 2003, at about 12:00 p.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred at the intersection of West Boulevard and Hyde Park Boulevard in 77th Street Area. A 1992 Chevy Tahoe, driven by James Thompson of Los Angeles, was traveling southbound on West Boulevard. The Tahoe crossed over the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic and collided with a 1987 Pontiac Sunbird, which was traveling northbound on West Boulevard.
The driver of the Sunbird, a 71 year-old male Black, was transported by a Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Ambulance to Martin Luther King Hospital where he died from his injuries. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification to his family.
Thompson, who is suspected of being under the influence of an intoxicant, was arrested and booked for felony gross vehicular manslaughter.
