LAPD Needs Help Solving Eight Homicides

South Los Angeles: The following are eight unsolved homicides which occurred in the 77th Area. The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the publics assistance in the identification of these suspects. The victim’s families will also attend the press conference.

On October 13, 2000, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Donte Briggs, 22 years-old, and Lewis Wrights Jr., 17 years-old, were shot and killed.

On November 22, 2000, Paul Mitchell was approached by unknown suspects and was shot while standing in a parking lot.

On February 25, 2001, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Astrid "Sandy" Zelada, 24 years-old, was shot while in her vehicle.
On July 7, 2001, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Tamile Cooper, 19 years old, was shot to death
On July 9, 2001, at 8:25 p.m., Frederick "Red Boy" Pettaway, 42 years-old, and Wilie Henry Williams Jr., 42 years-old, were shot to death.
On July 16, 2001 at approximately 10:44 p.m., Jhana Leah Wilson, 20 years-old, was shot and killed.

Immediately following the press conference, detectives, officers and police explorers will go into the community to distribute the reward fliers in the areas in which the crimes occurred.
