"77TH Street Detectives Investigate an Attempt Robbery That Ended In a Homicide"
 
Los Angeles: On Wednesday, October 3, 2001, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Mr. Abdallah Mohammed Nimir, 54 years of age, was collecting money from a residence in the 400 block of East 74th Street. Mr. Nimir was walking back to his vehicle and was confronted by unknown suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun. One of the suspects demanded the keys to Mr. Nimir’s vehicle. The armed suspect fired one round, striking Mr. Nimir in the abdomen area. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Mr. Nimir to Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital for treatment. Mr. Nimir died as a result of his injury on Thursday morning, October 4, 2001 at 10:56 a.m.
The motive appears to be an attempt robbery. The suspects and weapon used are still being sought.
