"Argument Turns into Stabbing Murder"
 
Los Angeles: On Wednesday morning, September 5, 2001, at approximately 11:30 a.m., 29 year-old Anthony Lamar Matthews was confronted by Deandre Marquise Bonds, 25 years old, a resident of Los Angeles, in front of his residence at 7515 South Stanford Avenue in Los Angeles. During the argument, Bonds entered Matthews’ house and went into the kitchen where he secured a kitchen knife. Bonds armed himself with the kitchen knife, went back outside and resumed the argument with Matthews. At some point, Bonds stabbed Matthews in the chest. Matthews staggered towards to the alley adjacent to 7515 South Stanford Avenue and fell to the ground.
Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Unit responded and transported Matthews to Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
77th Street Area officers responded to the location and took Bonds into custody without incident. He was booked at 77th Street Division Jail for 187 P.C. (Murder) without bail.
Motive for this incident has not been established.
