"Gang Shooting Investigation in 77th Area"
 

Los Angeles: On Thursday night, August 9, 2001, at approximately 8:50 p.m., the victim, Semaj Aubray, 26 years old, was standing in the driveway in front of 6605 South Victoria Avenue with some of his companions. Suspects drove up to them in a small compact vehicle. The right front passenger, armed with an assault rifle, leaned over the roof of the car and started shooting several rounds towards Mr. Aubray and his companions. Mr. Aubray sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and died at scene. No one else was injured during this shooting incident.
The motive appears to be gang-related and the suspects and weapon remain outstanding.
