Nov. 5, 2010

Today at about 2:10 a.m., officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and LAPD Fugitive Task Force, working with officers from the LAPD’s Criminal Gang and Homicide Division, arrested 21-year-old suspect Leonard Hall, Jr. for the murder of Aaron Shannon.  Yesterday about 5:45 p.m., a second suspect involved in the tragic Halloween-day shooting, 18-year-old Marcus Denson, was also arrested.  Both suspects are active gang members.  With information supplied to the detectives, Hall was arrested at an apartment in the 200 block of West 27th Street, and Denson was arrested without incident by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies who ran a warrant check on him after they spotted him leaving a residence in the 1100 block of East 83rd Street.  Throughout the course of the investigation, the LASD Century Station Operation Safe Street Gang Unit assisted LAPD detectives.  Both suspects, who are being held without bail, were booked for murder at the LAPD’s 77th Division and are expected to be transferred to Los Angeles County Jail sometime today.

Los Angeles.  Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) 77th Division detectives are asking for the public’s help with providing any information that will lead to the person(s) responsible for the shooting of a 5-year-old boy, his grandfather and uncle on October 31, 2010 in South Los Angeles.

At about 2 p.m., Aaron Shannon, his 56-year-old grandfather William Shannon, and his 27-year-old uncle Terrence Shannon, were in the rear yard of his residence in the 1000 block of East 84th Street.  Aaron was wearing his spider-man Halloween costume and enjoying Halloween with his family.

The suspects, described only as two male Blacks in their twenties, were walking east bound in the rear alley.  One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and fired multiple gunshots through the chain link fence, striking three victims.  The suspects then ran away down the alley and continued to run east on 83rd Street across Central Avenue.

Aaron was hit by a gunshot to the back of his head.  William and Terrence Shannon also suffered from gunshot wounds to their wrist and left leg.

Paramedics rushed the victims to a local hospital where Aaron was listed in serious condition.
