Newton Homicide Investigation

August 19, 2001

Los Angeles: On Sunday, August 19, 2001, 12:00A.M., an 18-year-old male had been attending a party in the 300 block of E. 28th Street. As the victim and friends were leaving the party, several shots were fired into the vehicle where the victim was riding. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the attack.

He was transported to California Hospital by private vehicle where he was treated. The victim failed to respond to his treatment and was pronounced dead at 3:27 A.M.
The investigation revealed there had been a dispute at the party. It is not known at this time whether the victim or his friends were involved in the dispute. Several witnesses left the location prior to the arrival of the police and have not been contacted.

The motive for this homicide is still under investigation. The suspect or suspects have not been arrested.
