Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Area Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 21 year-old male.
On September 24, 2002 at approximately 5:40 p.m., Los Angeles resident Jesus Cervantes Nava was approached by two male Hispanics in front of a residence located on the 3000 block of south 9th Avenue.
The two suspects, who are suspected gang members, confronted Nava and one of the men shot him once in the chest. Fleeing on foot, the suspects left the scene and no weapon was recovered. The gunman was described as a male Hispanic, 18 to 19 years of age, 5’2"-6’ tall, 190 lbs, last seen wearing a white short sleeve shirt and baggy pants. The second male Hispanic suspect was described as 19 to 20 years of age, 5’0 to 5’8"tall, heavy build, with a moustache, goatee, shaved head, and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
Nava was transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his gunshot wound.
