Mother and Her Boyfriend Arrested for Murder of 3-Year-Old Daughter

August 11, 2005

Los Angeles:  A mother and her boyfriend have been arrested in the death of her 3-year-old daughter.
On August 7, 2005, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Los Angeles City paramedics were summoned to a motel in the 1700 block of West Martin Luther King Boulevard in  South Los Angeles.  On arrival they found a three-year-old toddler having a seizure.  The child was taken to California Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, the cause of death unknown.  The police were called when medical personnel at the hospital, noticing several old injuries on the little girl’s body, suspected she may have been a victim of physical abuse.
On August 9, 2005, the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office ruled the child’s death a homicide.  It was determined she had sustained blunt force trauma to the abdomen, multiple previously undetected contusions about the body, and head trauma.
Investigating detectives confirmed the daughter had been in the care of her mother, Monique Givens, and her mother’s boyfriend, Casino Gangster Sears (birth name), when she sustained her latest injuries.  On August 9, 2005, both Givens and Sears were arrested for the murder of the 3-year-old.  Sears is being held without bail due to a probation violation.  Givens is being held on $1,000,000 bail and a $26,000 prostitution warrant.
