Pit Bull Attacks Officer

Los Angeles: A large pit bull dog attacked a Los Angeles police officer causing injury.

On Thursday, November 8, 2007, a male suspect led Newton Patrol Officers in a foot chase. As the officers entered the rear yard of a home in the 1100 block of East 51st Street, a pit bull dog suddenly attacked Officer Calleros. The dog bit him in the left foot and would not release. In an attempt to stop the attack, Calleros fired three rounds. Two struck the dog in the chest.

Officer Calleros sustained a puncture wound to the left foot and was treated at a local hospital.
