Why:
To discuss the Los Angeles Police Department’s task force that began earlier this year to investigate “fence” burglaries. A fence is an individual who knowingly buys stolen property for later resale, sometimes in a legitimate market.

The task force engaged in extensive surveillance and investigative efforts that culminated with the arrest of numerous suspected burglars and the service of multiple search and arrest warrants at several locations of suspected fencing operations, resulting in the potential recovery of burglary victims’ property. The search warrants resulted in the booking of over 11,000 items of evidence.

In an effort to return property to rightful owners, the property is now available to be viewed online via the LAPD official website: www.lapdonline.org. Victims of burglaries in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties are encouraged to view the online photographs.

If individuals believe their property is depicted in any of the photographs, they may send an e-mail to ovbvctf@lapd.lacity.org or leave a message at 818-644-8091.  In your e-mail or message left, please include a brief description of the item, the item number written on the yellow tab in the photograph, the name listed as the
victim on your burglary report, the report number, the address where the burglary occurred, the date of the crime and a callback number.
