Foothill Area Homicide Investigation

Foothill: On Saturday, June 30, 2001, at 6:50 P.M., Foothill Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of a "Dead Body Investigation" at Wheatland Avenue and the 210 Freeway in the Sunland area of Foothill Division. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a deceased female, later identified as Patricia Bowers, dead inside a plywood shack. The cause of death was blunt force trauma.
The officers were led to the scene through information received from an Arizona Highway Patrolman who arrested a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) suspect. The suspect, John Kosmider, implicated himself in the death of the victim. Detectives transported the suspect to Foothill Station.
The motive for the murder has not been determined.
Homicide Detectives R. Rodriguez, and M. Brownell, under the direction of Captain Kris Pitcher, Commanding Officer Foothill Operations Support Division, are handling the investigation.
