"Abduction Results in Homicide"

Los Angeles – On Sunday, December 3, 2000, at 8:30 p.m., Foothill Area patrol officers responded to a radio call, "Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Victim down," in the 12500 block of Big Tujunga Canyon Blvd. Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed a male Hispanic down on the side of the roadway, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

Foothill Area Homicide Detectives responded to the crime scene. The preliminary investigation revealed that unidentified suspects had taken the victim to the remote area. The victim was then shot as he attempted to flee the scene.

The victim is described as a male Hispanic, 32 years of age, with a last known address in the Chula Vista area. His identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The motive for the crime has not been established.
