Man Sought in Murder of Neighbor After Argument Over Trash Cans

Los Angeles: A man shot and killed his neighbor yesterday following an argument over the placement of trash cans on garbage day. The argument was the latest in an apparent longstanding dispute.

On Tuesday, April 18, 2006, just before 9:00 p.m., police responded to a shooting call in the 13400 block of Brownell Street in Pacoima. When officers arrived they found Juan Gomez, a 23-year-old resident of Sylmar, had been fatally shot. The suspect, Castulo Jurado Nevarez, a part-time resident of the area, fled after the shooting in a white Honda Civic 4-door, license 3JFA600. The vehicle was later recovered at a relative’s residence in Panorama City.

Neveraz is a male Hispanic, 68 years, 6 feet tall, 185 pounds, and was last seen wearing dark clothing. He remains at large.
