Woman’s Body Found inside House after Fire Cause of Death Is Unclear NR11320rf

July 14, 2011

Los Angeles:  Yesterday at about 4 p.m., city firefighters responded to a house fire and discovered an unidentified, deceased woman on the premises after the fire was extinguished.

The residence was located in the 11600 block of Bromont Avenue in Pacoima.  Both Los Angeles Fire Department arson investigators and LAPD Foothill Division homicide detectives were called in to conduct a joint, on-scene investigation.  Since it was unclear whether or not the victim died from fire-related injuries, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office took control of the decedent to perform an autopsy, and personnel from all three entities will work together to determine the woman’s identity, her cause of death and the cause of the fire.

Anyone with information about this incident or the deceased woman who was found should call LAPD’s Foothill Division at 818-756-8861 or 818-834-3115.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls may also be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
