Two Brothers Shot, One Fatally Wounded

Los Angeles: Harbor Area Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting incident of two brothers.
The incident occurred on February 4, 2003, at approximately 9:10 p.m., in the North/South alley of the 200 block of East Opp Street in the City of Wilmington. The victims were seated in their vehicle when the suspects’ vehicle, which is described as a red sports utility vehicle, drove up alongside the victims and began to fire numerous rounds at them. One victim was transported to Saint Mary’s hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The second victim was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
The fatally wounded victim was identified as, Jorge Rodarte, a male Hispanic, 17 years of age. The second victim was identified as the 20 year-old brother of the deceased.
The motive is unknown at this time and there is no further information on the suspects.
