LAPD Detectives Investigate a Stabbing Murder in Wilmington NR11435cj

Los Angeles:  The LAPD Harbor Homicide Detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing information about a stabbing that lead to the murder of a 23-year-old Wilmington man.

On September 18, 2011, around 5:00 a.m., LAPD Harbor Area patrol officers responded to an assault call in the 1100 block of West Anaheim Street.  When they arrived, they found a man on the ground suffering from stab wounds.  LAFD rescue personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation by homicide detectives revealed that the victim, identified as Rogelio Alvarado, was standing to the rear of the 800 block of Wilmington Avenue with friends when a  suspect(s) walked up to him and asked for a beverage. When Alvarado declined to provide a beverage, the suspect(s) stabbed him.  Alvarado ran to a courtyard in the 1100 block of Anaheim Street where he collapsed. It is unknown if the stabbing was gang related and the motive is unknown.
