Officers Elizabeth Green and Camerino Mesina displayed great courage by entering an apartment occupied by an armed suspect in order to safely evacuate two women and two children. Bravely confronting this suspect at close range, Officer Green was shot several times. Concerned for his partner’s safety, Officer Mesina stepped into the line of fire and returned gunfire in order to allow his partner to seek cover.

While off-duty, Sergeant Jeffrey Greer came to the assistance of a neighbor whose life was being threatened by a gang member, who was holding a gun to the neighbor’s head. Sergeant Greer then put himself in the suspect’s line of gunfire, and ultimately shot and disarmed the suspect, saving the neighbor’s life.

Officer Wright went in pursuit of three armed gunmen who had just committed a vicious take over robbery of a local business. Officer Wright pursued the suspects who ran through a nearby business, shooting indiscriminately at innocent bystanders. Officer Wright engaged the suspects in gunfire, which ultimately resulted in their capture and prevented injury to innocent victims.

Responding to a robbery call, Officers Robert Hamilton and Timothy Russell confronted the armed suspect a short distance from the crime scene. Without warning, the suspect opened fire on the officers. During the ensuing gun battle, both officers were shot. Displaying extraordinary endurance and courage, the officers assisted in the apprehension of the suspect.
