Responsibilities of Department Events Planning Section, (DEPS)
Coordination of Department events falls under DEPS. Duties include such events as the Recognition Day ceremonies, Medal of Valor Awards Luncheon, The Los Angeles Police Concert Band and Pipe Band. Thousands of written and telephonic requests for information from private citizens, industry, and other law enforcement and governmental agencies are processed annually by DEPS. In addition, DEPS provides tours of Department facilities for visiting dignitaries, students and civic groups, and prepares citizen commendations for presentation by the Chief of Police and/or the Police Commission.
Facts about DEPS
DEPS acts as the Department's corporate liaison to facilitate interaction between Department personnel and local business concerns wishing to assist the Department.
Locating and arranging suitable accommodations for visiting dignitaries unfamiliar with Los Angeles is a function of DEPS. All lodging expenses remain the responsibility of the visitor.
The annual Student Day in Government Program is coordinated by DEPS.
DEPS coordinates production of a periodic informational video for internal Department use which highlights activities within the Office of the Chief of Police.
