Detectives Seek Leads on Fatal Shooting; One injured

Los Angeles: On Friday, January 2, 2004, at about 1:04 a.m., the victim was on foot in the 5100 block of Jefferson Boulevard. The suspect drove up in his vehicle and stopped. The suspect exited his vehicle, confronted and shot the victim. This same suspect then approached a second victim who was nearby and shot him for no apparent reason. The suspect returned to his vehicle and fled eastbound on Jefferson Boulevard. Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the first victim, a 33 year-old male Black, dead as a result of his wounds. The second victim, 35 year-old male Black was transported to a local hospital for multiple gunshot wounds and is in stable condition.
The motive and the suspect(s) identity are unknown at this time. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification to his family.
