Sepulveda Middle School Counselor Arrested

Los Angeles: On January 27, 2004, at about 2:00 p.m., detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile Division (Abused Child Unit), arrested Herman DeLaRosa at Sepulveda Middle School. DeLaRosa was employed as the school counselor and was arrested for multiple counts of sex crimes involving a child.
Detectives began conducting the investigation in January 2004. An adult victim came forward and reported that DeLaRosa had molested her from 1985 until 1991.
DeLaRosa was employed with Sepulveda Middle School for one year, and was previously employed with Edison Middle School for 16 years. At this time, the sexual assault does not appear to be related to his employment as a school counselor.
DeLaRosa remains in custody and his bail was set at $1, 200,000.
