"Hit & Run Suspect Sought in Pacoima"
 
Pacoima – On Friday, July 6, 2001, at approximately 7:50 a.m., a Hit and Run occurred at the intersection of Norris Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard. Victim Hortencio Castillo, 31 years of age, a resident of Pacoima and her 3 1/2 year old son Angel Castillo, were crossing Norris Avenue northbound in a clearly marked crosswalk. At that time, a late 80’s or early 90’s grey pick-up truck with camper shell, or possibly SUV type vehicle, traveling westbound struck both victims.
The suspect, described as a male Hispanic in his 20’s wearing a baseball cap, initially pulled over briefly and then sped off northbound from the location. The vehicle’s partial license plate number was reported by witnesses as 4RGX—–.
Hortencio Castillo was taken to Providence Holy Cross Hospital in critical but stable condition. Angel Castillo was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in very critical condition.
