Los Angeles – On Sunday, July 15, 2001, at approximately 3:30 a.m., 26 year-old Adam Paul Means of Los Angeles was driving a 1990 Toyota Celica, southbound on Saint George Street approaching Lyric Street. David Lambrecht, a 28 year-old of Chicago, was riding a skateboard northbound Saint George Street. Lambrecht, who was initially riding his skateboard northbound in the southbound lane, traversed to the northbound side of the roadway. In an attempt to avoid a collision, Means veered his vehicle to the left and collided with Lambrecht.
Lambrecht sustained massive head trauma and was transported by the Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics to Los Angeles County Medical Center, where he received emergency medical treatment. Lambrecht failed to respond to emergency treatment and was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
Means was arrested for investigation of Vehicular Manslaughter and Driving Under the Influence. This investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Central Traffic Division Detectives.
