Canoga Park:  Today, LAPD Topanga Area homicide detectives held a news conference to announce the arrest of the suspect responsible for the May 14, 2010 murder of Martha Carmona and her 6-year-old daughter Valeri Camacho.The suspect was identified as the victim’s uncle, 51-year-old Manuel Carmona of North Hills.  Following a month and a half investigation, Topanga Area detectives arrested Manual Carmona at his residence on July 6, 2010.  Carmona was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held without bail at LAPD’s Van Nuys jail facility.  
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is asking for the public’s help in finding the person(s) responsible the brutal killing of a mother and child.  

On Friday, May 14, 2010, at around 1:20 p.m., Topanga area patrol officers responded to a “Victim of a Stabbing” radio call at the 6900 block of Remmit Avenue in the community of Canoga Park.

When the officers arrived, they entered the home and found 21-year-old, Martha Carmona and her 6-year-old daughter.  Both victims appeared to be suffering from multiple stab wounds.  Los Angeles City Fire Paramedics responded to the scene and attempted emergency medical treatment.  Both victims failed to respond to treatment and where pronounced dead at the scene.
