Los Angeles: Detectives from
the Los Angeles Police Department’s Criminal Gang Homicide Division
are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that
would lead to the arrest of the suspects responsible for killing
Gerrick Mykul Thomas.

On January 25, 2016, around 6:30 p.m., 77th Area officers responded
to an ambulance shooting radio call in the 3100 block of West 54th
Street. Officers found Thomas on the sidewalk suffering from
gunshot wounds.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported
Thomas to a local hospital where he was later pronounced
dead.


The preliminary investigation revealed that Thomas was returning to
his grandmother’s house from the store when he was approached on
foot by a lone male suspect. Surveillance video captured the
suspect’s vehicle driving in the area prior to the shooting. The
vehicle is seen on surveillance video travelling eastbound on 10th
Avenue, then stopped at a red tri-light signal on 54th Street.
Thomas is seen crossing the street, walking towards 9th Avenue.
The suspect’s vehicle follows Thomas, and the suspect exits the
passenger side of the vehicle. The suspect walks towards Thomas
and shoots him multiple times before running back to the vehicle
and fleeing southbound 9th Avenue.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a 2014-2016 silver or gray
Chevrolet Camaro with a black convertible top. The suspect is
described as a young male Black. He was wearing a baseball cap,
tan jacket, dark pants, and shoes.
