Hit and Run Fatal Traffic Collision NR16233ti

South Los Angeles: A Hit and Run Fatal Traffic Collision occurred in the 14000 block of Orchard Avenue.

On July 27, 2016, around 8 p.m., a motorist was traveling southbound on Orchard Avenue at a high rate of speed. The motorist ran off the roadway and collided into a house where a group of elders were gathered for religious purposes. Eleven people were injured and one fatality. The victim died at a local hospital has not been identified pending next of kin notification.

The motorist failed to remain at scene and identify herself or render aid as required by law. The vehicle is in police custody and described as a 1999 Buick Regal, maroon in color.

The suspect is described as a female black, 35 to 40 years of age, red hair and possibly lives in the area.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
