Man Fatally Shot in Echo Park

Friday, June 9, 2000



"Man Fatally Shot in Echo Park"

Los Angeles - On Friday, June 9, 2000, at approximately 2:15 A.M., an unidentified witness reported that he heard a gun shot while walking through Echo Park. The witness turned in the direction where he heard the gunfire and saw the victim fall to the ground and an unidentified male running away from the victim northbound through the park. The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim via ambulance to the Los Angeles County Hospital. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. The victim has been identified as a male White, 30 years of age. No further information is available at this time.

The motive for this incident is unknown. The suspect and weapon remain outstanding.

Rampart Homicide Detectives are conducting the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Rampart Homicide Unit at 213-207-2000.
