"THREE YEAR OLD KILLED IN TRAFFIC COLLISION – NEWTON DIVISION"
 
Los Angeles – On Thursday, June 7, 2001 at approximately 5:40 p.m., Saul Hernandez and his family were visiting friends on 70th Street east of Broadway Street in Los Angeles. Hernandez 3-year-old daughter ran across the street to be with her mother and was struck by a 4 door, possible late 1980’s to early 1990’s Toyota Tercel that was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on 70th Street. This vehicle was occupied by a male Black driver and an unidentified passenger who failed to stop, identify themselves or render aid to the victim. The minor sustained blunt force injuries and was transported by the Los Angeles Fire Department and Rescue Ambulance to Martin Luther King Junior Hospital where she died from her injuries.
This investigation is being conducted by Central Traffic Detectives and is still ongoing.
