Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Centurions Baseball Team will host the 3rd Annual LAPD-Celebrity Baseball Swing-A-Thon. This unique community event is open to the public and will provide an opportunity for children from around the City to meet, interact, learn and play baseball with LAPD officers, professional athletes, celebrities, and heroes from the American Armed Forces.
The event will feature static displays and demonstrations from the LAPD’s specialized units, the "Dodgers on Wheels" interactive game system and an obstacle course provided by the United States Marine corps. Professional athletes and LAPD officers will conduct sports clinics in the areas of Baseball, football, golf, soccer, and boxing.
Former Los Angeles Dodger baseball player and current coach Manny Mota will be presented with a lifetime achievement award during opening ceremony. After the award presentation, the LAPD Centurions Baseball Team will take on professional sports stars, celebrities, and City officials in a competitive game of softball.
It is anticipated that 3,000 children and community members will join together to raise funds for Los Angeles Area youth organizations and celebrate America’s favorite pastime, baseball.
