Officers found 27-Year-Old Man Struck by Gunfire NR11272rh

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Northeast Gang detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) who shot and killed 27-year-old Alfonso Garcia in Highland Park.

On Sunday, June 12, 2011, at around 7:45 p.m., Northeast officers responded to a radio call of an “Ambulance Shooting Just Occurred,” in the 300 block of Newland Street.  When the officers arrived they found Garcia unresponsive with a single gunshot wound to his upper torso.  

Los Angeles City Fire Department Personnel responded and transported Garcia to a local hospital where he was placed on life support.  On June 14, 2011, around 11:10 a.m. Garcia died from his injury.   

There is no suspect description and the motive for the shooting has not been determined.
