North Hollywood Detectives Investigate Murder at Apartment Complex NR12247wr

At 1:30 p.m, Manuel Garcia-Perez was arrested in the area of Barbara Ann Street and Bellaire Avenue in North Hollywood.  Manuel Garcia-Perez will be booked at LAPD Valley Jail Section for 187(A) PC- Murder with an additional charge for Domestic Violence, with no bail.

Los Angeles:  An argument inside of an apartment escalated and turned deadly when one man stabbed the other to death.

On June 2, 2012, around 2:25 a.m., LAPD North Hollywood Patrol officers responded to a call of an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon in Progress” in the 12000 Block of Vanowen Street in North Hollywood.  When officers arrived they discovered there had been a violent altercation at the scene. The officers located a victim of an assault suffering from multiple stab wounds, inside of an apartment building.  

The investigation has revealed the suspect was involved in an altercation with his girlfriend. The victim (roommate), attempted to intervene and stop the suspect from assaulting his girlfriend when he was stabbed by the suspect. The victim suffered multiple traumatic injuries as a result of the assault.

 Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at scene.

No further information is available on the victim pending positive identification by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.  

The suspect has been identified as 21-year-old, Manuel Garcia-Perez, He is a male Hispanic, 5’5” 130 pounds. The suspect was last seen running south on Ben Avenue from Vanowen Street. He was wearing blue jeans, no shirt or shoes and may have sustained injuries from the altercation.
