June 15, 2012

Los Angeles: Yesterday, around 11:47 p.m., LAPD’s Central Traffic Area office received a traffic collision call near Figueroa and Temple Street.  When the officers arrived, they discovered two cars that apparently collided.  The occupants in the cars were suffering from injuries.

Los Angeles Fire department rescue personnel responded and pronounced one man dead at the scene.  Five more were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The LAPD Central Traffic Area detective’s investigation revealed that a man driving a 2000 Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Figueroa Street.  As he passed Temple Street, the road curved to the left and he lost control of his car.  The car drifted into oncoming traffic where he struck a white Scion containing five male occupants.  As a result of the collision, the driver of the Honda died at the scene.

The name of the decedent is currently being withheld pending notification of family members, and the investigation is ongoing.
