Alberca
was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. She
graduated from the University of Arizona in 1993 having earned a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in
Sociology. As part of her curriculum, she completed an internship
in the Victim's Advocate Section of the Pima County District
Attorney's Office.

In 1993 Captain Alberca was hired by the Los Angeles City Fire
Department and worked as a firefighter in the Wilshire Area before
her career modification and transition to the Los Angeles Police
Department in 1996, becoming a second generation Police Department
legacy. As a Police Officer she worked diverse assignments in
Valley and West Bureaus including Patrol, Domestic Violence
Response Team, Gang Suppression and Field Training Officer.

In 2003 she was promoted to Detective and transferred from
Hollywood to West Valley Area where she was assigned to the Major
Assault Crimes detail responsible for investigating crimes against
persons. Later that same year she was promoted to Sergeant and
subsequently worked as a Field Supervisor at Mission and Devonshire
Areas before her transfer, in 2006, to Professional Standards
Bureau, Criminal Section.

In 2008, Captain Alberca was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and
was selected as a member of the Topanga Area Transition Team to
prepare for and coordinate the successful opening of the
Department's twenty-first geographic community police station.
After Topanga became operational in January 2009, Captain Alberca
remained and contributed to the command in the capacity of Watch
Commander, Gang Impact Team OIC and Assistant Detective OIC.

In 2012 she was upgraded to Lieutenant II and assigned to 77th Area
as Detective OIC. Captain Alberca transferred to Operations Valley
Bureau in 2013 as Bureau adjutant to the Deputy Chief. In 2014 she
was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to Pacific Area as
the Patrol Commanding Officer. She was upgraded to Captain III in
2015 and continues to serve the Pacific community as the Area
Commanding Officer.

Captain Alberca is a graduate of the FBI National Leadership
Academy in Quantico Virginia, a member of the Los Angeles Women
Police Officers and Associates organization, and also a member of
the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Captain Alberca is a lifetime health, fitness and sports advocate
and a gold and bronze medal recipient in Department sponsored
competitions. She and her husband, a Los Angeles Police Sergeant,
compete in philanthropic 5K and 10K obstacle races and adventure
runs and also enjoy waterskiing and hiking. Captain Alberca is an
animal lover active in local organized canine rescue.
