email Captain Paul Espinosa was
born in San Fernando, CA and grew up in the Northeast San Fernando
Valley, in the areas that now comprise Mission and Foothill. He
attended California State University Northridge where he obtained a
Bachelor of the Science Degree in Political Science with an
emphasis in Urban Studies.

Captain Espinosa was appointed to the Department in April of 1994.
During the course of his career he has worked a variety of
assignments at nine different Community Police Stations within
three different geographic Bureaus. At the officer rank his
assignments included, patrol, bicycle detail, prostitution
enforcement detail, vice, narcotics, and staff researcher. In 2002
he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and had opportunities to
work as a field supervisor, bicycle/hype unit supervisor, Officer
in Charge of Community Relations, an Officer in Charge at Office of
Operations, Assistant Watch Commander, Commander's Aide, and an
investigator at Special Operations Division. Captain Espinosa also
held the rank of detective where was assigned to Rampart Area and
investigated Major Assault Crimes, Crimes Against Persons, and
Burglary. In 2012 he was promoted to lieutenant and was a Watch
Commander at West Los Angeles and West Valley Areas. He was also
the Officer in Charge of North Hollywood Gang Impact Team and more
recently the Commanding Officer of Foothill Detective

In February of 2015 he was promoted to Captain I and assigned as
the Commanding Officer of Foothill Patrol Division. He is proud to
serve the community of where he once resided and to provide
leadership to the men and women assigned to Foothill Area.

Captain Espinosa enjoys reading, running, and most other athletic
activities, but most importantly Captain Espinosa enjoys spending
time with his wife and sons.
