LAPD Police Pistol Combat Team

When it comes to tradition, no Department team has more history then the Police Pistol Combat team.  Formed in the late 1930’s as part of Police Chief James Davis’s plan to establish an organized training program for every Los Angeles Police officer, the Police Pistol Combat team was one of the very first organized teams in the history of the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club.

The Department has two Police Pistol Combat teams which compete in approximately 40 matches per season.  The season runs from April to October and includes competitions at the Western States Police and Fire Games, Nevada Police and Fire Games, Arizona Police and Fire Games and the National Police Shooting Championships held in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The competitions are more disciplined and focused. Competitors shoot at a target at various distances with revolvers and semiautomatic weapons.  Emphasis is placed on precision and accuracy.  With a keen sense of marksmanship, the Police Pistol Combat team strives for excellence.

For more information on the team you can e-mail Detective Helen Papietro at 30406@lapd.lacity.org.
