Los Angeles: On Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at approximately 7:50 p.m., 21 year-old Los Angeles resident Cesar Gomez was standing outside of the east entrance to the gym at the Aliso Pico Recreation Center, located in the 300 block of South Clarence Street in the City of Los Angeles.
Unknown suspects approached Gomez on foot and engaged him in a brief conversation. Moments later, the suspects shot Gomez multiple times. The suspects then fled the location in an unknown direction.
Los Angeles Fire Rescue Ambulance responded to the scene and paramedics provided the victim with emergency medical treatment. The victim was transported to USC Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
