Gang Shooting in Mar Vista

Friday, May 26, 2000



"Gang Shooting Claims 22 Year Old Victim"

Mar Vista: On Friday, May 26, 2000 at 4:00 p.m., the victim, Richard Garcia, Jr., 23 years of age, was shot multiple times as he was standing in front of his residence on the 11900 block of Avon Way in Los Angeles. A lone suspect was last seen driving from the scene northbound on Inglewood Boulevard from the location. The suspect's vehicle is described as an early 1990's dark blue Honda Accord. The suspect is only described as a male Hispanic. The victim later expired at a local hospital.

Pacific Operation Support Division Homicide Detectives are handling the case as a gang-related incident.
