Homicide Investigation In 77th Street Area

"Homicide Investigation in 77th Street Area"


Los Angeles - On Friday, May 11, 2001, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Corey Lamell Price, male Black, 22 years old, was on the sidewalk in front of 447 East 84th Place, Los Angeles. Unidentified suspect(s) in a small compact vehicle traveling eastbound on 84th Place towards Avalon Boulevard approached Price and fired several rounds in his direction. Price sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Suspect(s) were last seen fleeing at a high rate of speed southbound Avalon Boulevard towards Manchester Avenue. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported Price to Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The motive for this incident has not been established, but it appears to be gang related. The suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding.
