Man Shot to Death in Pecan Park Area NR12212gb

Los Angeles:  LAPD Hollenbeck Homicide Division detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate the suspect responsible for killing a 20-year-old man in Pecan Park area.

On May 5, 2012, around 9:49 p.m., Hollenbeck officers responded to a shooting call in the area of 1st Street and Gless Street near Pecan Park. When they arrived, Officers found Frankie Velasquez, suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The victim’s cousin was with him at the time of this incident but not injured.

Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he died the following day.

Detectives believe that the victim and his cousin were walking to a nearby store when a suspect, armed with a handgun walked up to them and opened fire on Velasquez.

The suspect and the weapon are outstanding. The motive for the murder remains unknown at this time.
