WHY:Police Department, Olympic Area Police Station with a police uniform from the ancient stadium of Olympia, Greece where the ancient Olympic Games began. The first Olympics are traditionally dated back to 776 B.C. They continued to be celebrated when Greece came under Roman rule, until 394 A.D. The games were held every four years or, Olympiad, which became a unit of time in historical chronologies. This presentation is to commemorate the connection that exists between The City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Police Department, Olympic Area, the Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the Greek community and all other ethnic groups in the Byzantine Latino quarter and The Pico Union district.
