WHY:
Local police respond annually to nearly 5,000 disturbance calls related to large parties in residential areas.   Neighborhoods have complained these parties hold them hostage to loud music, drunkenness, fights, shootings, and even murder.  The special allotment of funds will allow for a dedicated party patrol car from June through September.  Its mission will be to monitor the parties before they get out of hand.  In addition, the officers will cite juveniles for curfew violations and keep an eye out for crimes that tend to occur in the vicinity of large parties, like car thefts and car burglaries.
