Aggravated Assault Investigation in Hollenbeck Area NR16232tiLos Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department, Hollenbeck Crimes Against Persons Detectives are investigating two recent assaults where the suspect attacked the Victims using a hammer. One of the two assaults occurred at Grande Vista Avenue South of Union Pacific and the other occurred at New Jersey Street and Savannah Street.
On July 9, 2016, around 7:35 a.m., the suspect was seen rummaging through the victim's belongings, which were under a bridge overcrossing, on the west sidewalk of Grande Vista Avenue. As the victim attempted to get his attention, the suspect initially ignored him and a few seconds later attacked him with a hammer. The victim was struck on the head several times and lost consciousness. The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, stands 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs around 160 pounds. He is between 40-45 years of age, wearing a yellow and blue striped shirt.
On July 21, 2016, around 6:25 a.m., the second victim was walking his dog on the East sidewalk of Savannah Street, just south of New Jersey Street. The suspect approached from the rear and struck the victim in the back of his head with a hammer. The victim ran to his home and did not have a description of the suspect. Victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
A witness described the suspect as a White male, with long brown hair, black baseball cap, wearing gray flannel shirt and carrying a backpack.
