Los Angeles Police Department Hosts First Summit for Private Security Firms and Law Enforcement

Los Angeles: In a "first-of-its-kind" gathering, the Los Angeles Police Department joined together with local, state, federal, and private security officials to discuss the challenges facing today's security environment. The Los Angeles Region Security Summit was designed to bring together private security partners with law enforcement officials to strategize how to best adapt to evolving threats.

The LAPD values the collaborations and partnerships we have been able to forge with the Los Angeles business community and we hope to strengthen that bond with gatherings like today's summit. Topics addressed today included, possible threats to our community, how the media plays a role in minimizing or accentuating that threat, and the role of private security firms and law enforcement agencies working together to combat extremism. Chief of Police Charlie Beck noted, "It is our responsibility to join as a community and leverage these important partnerships to make Southern California a safe place to live, work, and play."

Any media inquiries about today's event can be directed to LAPD Deputy Chief Horace Frank - Counterterrorism and Special Operations Bureau 213-486-8780 and/or Michael Czarcinski, Chairman of the Board - Hotel Association of Los Angeles and Managing Director Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites 213-612-4880
