The Los Angeles Police Department, Harbor Area, will host the first "Harbor Community on Patrol (HCOP)" graduation for Operation-South Bureau. The graduation is scheduled for Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 8 Harbor Community Police Station, located at 2175 John S. Gibson Boulevard, San Pedro, California.

The Harbor Area Community Relations Office developed the "Harbor Community on Patrol" Program to provide Harbor Area community members the opportunity to further serve their own communities. The uniformed HCOP volunteers will be assigned various missions to augment the crime suppression efforts of the Los Angeles Police Department. The missions will include, but not limited to the following, High Visibility Directed Patrols, in non-enforcement roles, completing various crime reports and other administrative/technical duties as directed by the Harbor Area Commanding Officer.

Harbor Area will be graduating ten volunteers who have completed a rigorous 9-week training program which required each student to sacrifice aspects of both their personal and professional lives. What this class has accomplished will benefit the Harbor Area and build a more active and secure community. The Los Angeles Police Department is looking forward to presenting future Harbor Community on Patrol academies as an ongoing effort to empower the Harbor Area Communities and improve the quality of life of its residents.
