Why:
The Los Angeles Police Department's Hollenbeck Area and Hollenbeck Area PBA have a longstanding commitment to supporting the lives of youth through a scholarship program.

The mission of the Hollenbeck PBA is to support our men and women in uniform and to honor their sacrifice, as we also contribute to our youth.

Police Officer Steve Gajda was a seven-year member of the Los Angeles Police Department, joined the department after a stint as a helicopter mechanic in the Army's 101st Airborne Division. Steve's life was taken doing what he liked to do, make the streets of Los Angeles safer. On January 1, 1998 Steve was shot and killed while breaking up a gang party in Hollenbeck Area. His memory has been kept alive by Officers, Community and his family by honoring local youth with scholarships.
