Large Methamphetamine Seizure in South Los Angeles NR19054ml

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department Southwest Area Narcotics Enforcement Detail arrested two men after a Large Methamphetamine Seizure in South Los Angeles.

On Sunday, March 3rd 2019, investigators were investigating reports of narcotic activity at a motel located at 7400 block of South San Pedro Street. They observed an individual enter a vehicle at the motel, armed with a handgun. He was detained, and when they consulted with the manager, they determined that there were two small children, aged 8 and 10, who had been left alone in the room.

When they conducted a welfare check, they found the children alone in the motel room. While providing for the safety of the children, they located duffle bags with methamphetamine, also inside the room.

The total gross weight of the methamphetamine was over 100 pounds, with an estimated street value of approximately one million dollars.

The parent, Hector Carrillo, a 31-year-old male Hispanic, was arrested for 11378 Health and Safety Code - Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales and Child Endangerment.

The other suspect, Cristian Martinez, a 25- year-old Male Hispanic, was arrested for 29800 (a)(1) of the Penal Code, Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

The children were unharmed and placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.

The Department believes the suspects are part of a wider distribution narcotics ring operating in the Los Angeles area.
