WHY:
A news conference to bring awareness to the growing number of fatal hit and run traffic collisions in the city of Los Angeles. In 2019, over 21,200 vehicular hit and run traffic collisions occurred in the City. Tragically, over 51 people have been killed in these incidents. The impacts of these traffic collisions are devastating, far reaching, and they impact the entire community. The Los Angeles Police Department continues to work on educating the public on the laws and obligations to remain at the scene of the traffic collision, identify themselves, and render assistance. The message is simple, if you are involved in a traffic collision, do the right thing and obey the law. The Los Angeles Police Department needs the public's assistance in reducing the number of fatal hit and run traffic collisions in our communities.
