K-9 Assists in Catching a Robbery Suspect

Los Angeles:  A Los Angeles Police K-9 helped capture a robbery suspect who hid from police by hiding under a parked vehicle.

On April 14, 2009 at about 11:30 PM, Newton Area officers set up a perimeter on the 140 block of 53rd Street, and requested the help of a K-9 to look for a robbery suspect.  During the search, the K-9 found 17-year-old male suspect, who refused to surrender to officers.  The K-9 bit the robbery suspect who was then taken into custody and transported to a local hospital where he was admitted and treated for his injuries.

The juvenile was booked for robbery. No Officers were injured during the search.

Force Investigation Division will handle the dog bite investigation and Newton Area Detectives are investigating the robbery.
