Newton Division Saturation Patrol NA09188td

What:
Driving Under the Influence Enforcement Operation

When:
Sunday, July 19, 2009
4:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.

Where:
Florence on the south, 7th street on the north, 110 Freeway on the west, Los Angeles river on the east

Who:
Central Traffic Officers

Why:
The purpose of the DUI saturation patrol is to reduce the number of traffic collisions involving intoxicated drivers, as well as the number of hit and run traffic collisions.  The Los Angeles Police Department seeks to achieve these goals through enforcement and public awareness.

These DUI saturation patrols are being deployed in response to an increase in DUI related traffic collisions in the Newton geographic area of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Funding for the checkpoint comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.  We can all help make our streets safer.  Report Drunk Drivers-Call 911.

For further information contact Sergeant Richard Lockett, Central Traffic Community Safety Unit, at 213-972-1864.
