Michael Wolkenfeld:
Specialist Reserve Officer Michael (Mickey) Wolkenfeld has been selected as the North Hollywood Area 2002 Reserve Officer of the Year. He has been a Reserve Officer serving the citizens of Los Angeles since April 1993. During his 9-year tenure, Mickey has worked tirelessly in assisting victims of violent crimes. He is being honored for his dedication to duty, professionalism, and excellent job knowledge which is in keeping with the highest tradition of the Los Angeles Police Department's Reserve Corps. Mickey has received training from the District Attorney and City Attorney in domestic violence counseling. Additionally, he has received training from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in victim assistance. Mickey recently earned a Doctor of Psychology Degree from the American Behavior Studies Institute. He has received numerous awards and certificates for his dedication to the community and his genuine concern for the victims of violent crimes. He is recognized by the State of California as a first aid expert and certified instructor. He is a member of the Los Angeles City Peer Counseling program. Mickey has had a successful career as a gemologist, and is a resident of North Hollywood where he lives with his lovely wife Rena and their five children. Mickey is also a member of North Hollywood Community Police Advisor Board. Mickey also works tirelessly as the Police/Community Liaison for North Hollywood's Jewish Community.
He consistently works in excess of the required two shifts a month.
Mickey is well deserving of the 2002 Reserve Officer of the Year Award.
